3 days at Ältsån

Introduction

Here, we fish in running water, primarily targeting Arctic char and large trout. Ältsån is a watercourse where one fishes along the willow edges or in more open and barren areas. Both Arctic char and trout can be found in the flowing water, and the entrance to the river can be magically productive. We stay in tents and cook all our meals over an open fire.

Ältsån is a very welcome addition to our other mountain waters. Perhaps it will be you who lands a two-kilogram Arctic char on a dry fly this summer.

Day 1
We fly out to Ältsån by helicopter from Biergenis in the morning. Upon arrival, we set up our base camp and prepare for fishing. During the summer, it's bright around the clock, so we adapt to the feeding times of the fish and our own stamina. As dusk settles in, the larger fish often emerge.

Day 2
Depending on conditions, we fish in the nearby area or embark on longer trips to catch the truly big ones. The fishing in the vicinity of our base camp is excellent, so there's no need to spend time on hiking if one prefers not to. The essential thing is that we enjoy ourselves. Naturally, we cook our meals over an open fire, using a large proportion of local ingredients to enhance our wilderness living experience. The coffee pot is never far away.

Day 3
We continue fishing during the morning, or rest if we've been fishing all night. After lunch, we pack up everything for the helicopter journey back and then continue fishing around the base camp until it's time to fly home.

Price 2024
The trip costs 13,500 SEK per person for a group of three and 15,500 SEK per person for a group of two. The price includes transportation to and from the helicopter from Ammarnäs, a helicopter journey to and from Ältsån, all meals during the stay, and a fishing guide with extensive experience in fishing in the Ammarnäsfjällen region. All necessary permits to fish in the exception water Ältsån are also included in the price.
